Financial Reporting ERROR 11.1.2.4 after patch application

In this blog I am writting the solution for Financial Reports not opening with FR Studio after patch application. After the patch application the FR Studio gives the following error:

“The FR Studio version is different than the FR server version. Please update FR Studio to the same version as the FR server.  “

Reinstallation of FR Studio from the workspace won’t solve this problem. The solution is as follows-

1)After the patch application we need to change HReports.Jar file on the client machine where FR studio  Client is installed.

2) The path to find the Hreports.jar file on the client machine is Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\FinancialReportingStudio\common\financialreporting\11.1.2.0\lib

3) Take backup of existing HReports.jar file.

4) Replace the HReports.jar file from the server on client machine.

FDMEE Error : Other Language Support

While we setup the Planning Applications in languages other than English, The Hyperion Essbase Database is created with Unicode UTF-8 encoding.

This might require additional configuration steps for pushing data from FDM

By Default the FDM supports UTF-8 Character set.

UTFAnd if you have special characters in languages other than English, in FDM Period definitions as well as in Dimension mappings,

UTF8.PNG

You may get error while trying to load data to Planning/Essbase:

One way to steer around this error is to update the character encoding to UTF-16.

Worked in our case.

Change ‘GO’ button name of OBIEE Dashboard prompt

By default, default prompt appears as follows:

You can change the name through following steps:

Navigate to: OracleBI/web/msgdb/l_en/messages

Open globalfiltermessages.xml file

Locate the following text:

<WebMessage name="kmsgGFPGo"><TEXT>Go</TEXT></WebMessage>

Edit the following text and replace it to desired one

(Please take backup of that file)

I am replacing ‘Go’ with ‘Enter

<WebMessage name="kmsgGFPGo"><TEXT>Enter</TEXT></WebMessage>

Save the changes to the file

Restart Oracle BI Presentation Service

Final output would be as follows where ‘Go’ has been replaced with ‘Enter’

Suppressing Null values

Suppressing Null values

When working with pivot tables, in rows or columns combination, if a value is present in database it is been displayed otherwise it displays blank value, as it seen here for Year Ago Dollars column.

We cannot suppress this value using ifnull(measure,0)

What we can do is replace blank with hyphen.

Edit the column properties for that particular column and in conditional format

Select operator as is null

In Edit format option select Strikethrough from effects drop down list.

Blank values will be replaced by hyphen (-)
